The project

Triana may be the most picturesque disctict in Seville. The west bank of the Guadalquivir river has a unique identity and an aura full of charm with strong tradition, inspiring lifestyle, stunning history and jaw-dropping architecture.

But if there is something I really enjoy when I’m in Triana is the food. The density of tapa bars in Triana is overwhelming, but that does not mean it will be easy to find a spot. No matter what restaurant, bar or taberna you visit, it will be crowded and delicious. However, I do have my favorites.

I created this map of Triana showing where to eat the best tapas in Triana. I feel like I’ve been preparing for this illustration for at least 10 years.


  1. Have a toast for breakfast with iberic ham, crushed tomato and olive oil (tostada con jamón ibérico, tomate y aceite) in Casa Cuesta (Calle Castilla, 1).
  2. Enter the Mercado de Triana (Plaza del Altozano) to grab a cone of iberic ham from Jamonería José Luis Romero (stand 58) and end up having some fresh oysters from Ostrería & Sushi de Mercado (stand 61) or even a full paella at Arrocería Criaito (stand 27) too.
  3. Dine with a view at María Trifulca (Plaza del Altozano) or with a live flamenco show at Lola Cazerola (Calle Castilla, 36).
  4. Have a glass of traditional Manzanilla (sherry wine) right from the barrell at La Antigua Abacería (Calle Pureza, 12), a former grocery store and a place worth visiting.
  5. Gather around a plate of shimp at noon at Cervecería La Grande (Calle San Jacinto, 39) with an ice cold Cruzcampo.
  6. Eat tapas like a local at Bar Santa Ana (Calle Pureza, 82), Taberna Paco España (Calle Alfarería, 18), or Blanca Paloma (Calle San Jacinto, 49).
  7. Start the evening at Alfarería 21 (Calle Alfarería, 21), a former Triana pottery and ceramic factory.
  8. Puntas de Solomillo (grilled tenderloin steak), chipirones (grilled squid), grilled mushrooms, carrots in olive oil (aliño de zanahorias), and basically anything on the menu at Las Golondrinas (Calle Antillano Campos, 26 and Calle Pagés del Corro, 76).
  9. Try the grilled quail at Bar Casa Ruperto (Av. Santa Cecilia, 2).
  10. Experience Snail Season (mid-April to late-June) at Casa Diego (Calle Esperanza de Triana, 19) and slurp up a traditional bowl of snails in broth. Look for the sign «Hay Caracoles» (Snails here).
